about

This album consists of tracks recorded between 2016 and 2019, with a large number of tracks being culled from the sessions for No One Who Was Good Is Good Anymore and Hack the Planet.

Some were considered for inclusion on those albums, and some were slivers of time and space left hidden, waiting to be uncovered - their stories missing pieces of the puzzle.

Gin Epoch is a weird record that kind of just fell out of the sky, and is the third album in what I like to refer to as the "Fugue Trilogy" of OCOV albums recorded during a period of perilous upheaval, and recorded quickly and with whatever means were around.

The result is a mix of the immediate intimacy and starkness of No One Who Was Good Anymore, and the cold, arm's length defensiveness of Hack the Planet.

It's an exploration of a lot of the themes found on both albums, but it feels like they're being seen through a different lens. It's not an album proper, or a cohesive statement, but it feels like a missing apocryphal part of the narrative that ties the whole story together.

Ocean Charter Of Values Nova Scotia

As Ocean Charter of Values, Nova Scotian singer songwriter Nicholas Laugher plots a course through sparkly indie rock by way of saccharine 90s pop, and the overwrought melodramatics of 16-bit RPGs.
